Oman Weather Warning: High Winds, Heavy Rain, and Cold Snap Forecast (January 20–26, 2026)
Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a comprehensive weather alert for the week of January 20–26, 2026, warning of active northerly winds and dust storms starting Tuesday night, which will significantly reduce visibility and cause rough seas with waves up to 2.5 meters. From January 21–22, the Sultanate faces unstable weather with scattered rainfall and thunderstorms, particularly along coastal governorates and the Al Hajar Mountains, raising the risk of flash floods and flowing wadis. Additionally, late-night and early-morning dense fog is expected to hamper visibility in southern and interior regions like Al Wusta and Al Dhahirah. As the system progresses, a sharp drop in temperature is forecast, with freezing conditions and potential frost likely in high-altitude areas such as Jebel Shams. Authorities urge the public to avoid low-lying areas and valleys, drive cautiously during dust or fog, and prepare for colder conditions by wearing warm clothing.
